My fourth and final hobby is fairly simple. In the past, I’ve heard that authors and comedians keep a journal on them to jot down any ideas they have throughout the day that could be leads to stories, jokes, etc. This first sparked my interest in keeping a journal of my thoughts. I’d like to write in some capacity one day, and keeping a catalog of my thoughts might give me some place to start.
In mid-December, I downloaded the Day One app from the App Store for $5 to get an early start on my hobby. I’ve detailed some of the trials and tribulations of my professional and personal life in the journal so far, as well as a few random thoughts. It’s been interesting to view these events and feelings in perspective, and how feelings at work can aggravate things at home and vice-versa. While it wasn’t the initial intention of this hobby, I think keeping a daily log of my feelings will help keep me more balanced. If I can clearly see in my journal that I have already been insane this week, then I can postpone any further insanity until at least the next week.
Keeping a daily journal may be slightly impossible, as I am a busy and/or lazy person, so my actual goal will be to write in my journal at least 300 days in 2016. Lucky for me 2016 is a leap year, so I’ve already got some wiggle room in my goal.
